The One Thing I Buy Whenever I Travel

Books! What a surprise twist, right? Who saw that coming…

Actually, in some ways for me this is a rarity. I have become a big supporter of my public library system, so I haven’t bought a book since I last traveled (4 months, which is a LONG stretch for us).

Books from far off places are an essential purchase for me. Every travel experience has a unique intention, I tend to follow and research my curiosities, so the books I choose during trips hold a special significance of where I am in my life.

THE RIGHT BOOKS FALL OFF THE SHELF WHEN WE’RE READY…

I believe this about everything, but especially the books we choose. The literature that calls to us is a reflection of what we’re going through. Couple that with traveling and the strong insights that come from that experience, and you’ve got yourself a sacred lifelong text.

Being in the right place at the right time facilitates these moments. This book store is in Obidos, Portugal, a quick stop on our way to Lisboa. I wanted more time to browse but we were passing through. Since I couldn’t really look for myself, I bought a rare, old book with a humorous take on healing for someone special in my life. Its cover called to me and it was perfect. They don’t even know it yet. I’m saving it for a special occasion. Playing that long game.

Here are a few photos of my literal definition of HEAVEN. Enjoy.
